Our library program is available to all KJDS students and adheres to the standards for information literacy published by the American Association of School Librarians for the 21st Century Learner. Included in these standards are the goals of gaining literary appreciation, attaining information skills, and developing an interest in lifelong learning.  Students learn an appreciation of literature as they select from the library’s extensive free reading options.
In research, students become familiar with nonfiction and reference print as well as electronic resources including pre-selected websites through the catalog as well as through access to online databases.  Students will be able to locate, evaluate, synthesize and apply information while being cognizant of the ethical use of resources.  In growing confidence and realizing success in their library experience, students will develop into competent, lifelong learners.
