This class we explored cans from the lens of a mathematician. K-1 students organized cans by color & size. 2nd and 3rd grade students recorded the  volume of cans and determined the total volume of each food type. 4th and 5th got those calculators out and extended their math skills by learningi how to calculate the  volume of the cans. 

Midway through class we had a visitor, architecht Thomas Caldwell gave a presentation on his past experience of partaking in a canstruction project. After learning about how neat and exciting building with cans was we tried our hand at creating letters with cans. One group created the letters KJDS and one group wrote Shalom in Hebrew using cans.
